Is an Early Pregnancy Test Accurate 3 Days Before Menstruation?

Update Date: Source: Network

Performing a pregnancy test three days before menstruation may not be accurate. You can use an early pregnancy test strip for testing, or go to the hospital for an HCG test, which is confirmatory for pregnancy. Additionally, if you are pregnant, you may experience symptoms such as dizziness, breast swelling, fatigue, lower back pain, and so on. It is advisable to consider performing a pregnancy test again if menstruation is delayed for more than 3 days. If menstruation occurs normally and there is no pregnancy, you can proceed as per menstruation.

Methods for Testing Pregnancy

1. Early Pregnancy Test Strip: Use an early pregnancy test strip to test urine pregnancy reactions independently. You can purchase the test strip from a pharmacy, immerse the strip in urine, and if two lines appear on the strip, it indicates early pregnancy. Morning urine is the most accurate for pregnancy testing. Generally, pregnancy can be detected 10 to 14 days after conception, which corresponds to days 24 to 28 of the menstrual cycle (before the menstrual period is due). However, the results of early pregnancy test strips are not 100% accurate.

2. Cervical Mucus Pregnancy Test: After pregnancy, the quality and quantity of cervical mucus change. In early pregnancy, the cervical mucus is less and thicker, and microscopic examination reveals no fern-like crystals. If clinical manifestations and the above tests still cannot confirm early pregnancy, re-examination should be conducted after 1 to 2 weeks.

3. Type B Ultrasound Examination: As early as the 5th week of pregnancy, or one week after the menstrual period is overdue, a circular halo can be displayed on the type B ultrasound screen inside the uterus, also known as the pregnancy ring. The dark area within the ring is amniotic fluid, and rhythmic fetal heartbeat can also be observed. Type B ultrasound is the most accurate and reliable method for diagnosing early pregnancy.

4. Blood Test (HCG): A blood test (HCG) is the earliest way to know the pregnancy result. You can perform a blood HCG test around 10 days after intercourse to confirm whether you are pregnant.
