Why Does My Pregnant Belly Feel Hard?
1. Regular hardness: This typically occurs during regular uterine contractions, which involve a series of contractions and relaxations of the abdomen, accompanied by a sensation of hardness. Some people may also experience abdominal distension or pain.
2. Persistent hardness: This refers to a continuous feeling of tightness in the abdomen, sometimes accompanied by severe abdominal pain. Although the pain may not be significant, it is important to note that persistent abdominal hardness can occur in cases of placental abruption.
1. If a pregnant woman experiences a hard abdomen, it may be due to uterine contractions. It is recommended to go to the hospital for fetal heart monitoring to assess the situation. Based on the gestational age and the severity of the contractions, further treatment can be determined.
2. If the gestational age is relatively small, between 20 and 36 weeks, medication to inhibit uterine contractions may be considered. Additionally, an ultrasound examination should be performed to check for any shortening of the cervical canal.
3. If there is shortening of the cervical canal or even dilation of the cervix, indicating a high risk of preterm labor, hospitalization may be necessary. For women in the late stages of pregnancy, after 37 weeks, if they experience a hard abdomen and uterine contractions, they can be admitted to the hospital for delivery.
