At What Age Can Babies Start Using Sippy Cups?
Generally, it is recommended to start training babies to use sippy cups when they are around eight months old. If the baby is quick to accept, you can try introducing the sippy cup at six months, but do not force its use. By the time the baby reaches eight months, you can gradually introduce the sippy cup and guide the baby to use it. Pour some juice or other things that can interest the baby into the cup to slowly train the baby until they fully master the skill of using the sippy cup.
Generally, baby sippy cups can be divided into PP (polypropylene) sippy cups and Tritan (copolyester) sippy cups according to the different materials used. Both of these materials are food-grade and safe and non-toxic. Additionally, the straws of sippy cups can be made of silicone or plastic. Silicone straws are very soft and are commonly used for pacifiers, making them highly safe. However, hard plastic straws may have lower safety standards.
Tip 1: Soak the sippy cup in warm vinegar water with 1-2 drops of vinegar for 30 minutes. Then, use a soft sponge to clean it. This will help maintain cleanliness. (Note: Do not put the lid on during soaking as the temperature difference between inside and outside may cause water droplets to form on the lid.)
Tip 2: If there are red stains caused by water spots, fill the cup with warm water mixed with 10% vinegar and let it stand for 30 minutes. Then, use a soft cloth to clean the cup, which will remove the red stains.
Tip 3: Use warm soda water to disinfect the sippy cup. (Note: Do not put the lid on during disinfection.)
Tip 4: For stubborn tea stains and juice stains, pour in some warm water, add 2 drops of dish soap, and gently brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush. This will effectively remove the stains.
