What Should I Do If My Foot Is Deformed?

Update Date: Source: Network

When changes occur in the morphology of the foot, appropriate foot correction can be made according to the underlying causes, or conservative treatment can be performed with the assistance of traditional Chinese medicine methods. Clinically, there are many reasons for foot deformities, some of which are caused by abnormal joint development, some may be genetic, and a few are related to the special periods experienced by women. The corresponding treatment plans for foot deformities caused by different factors vary, so they cannot be generalized. Causes of foot deformities:

1. Osteoarthritis, mainly due to chronic strain, joint wear, chronic joint cartilage damage, shedding, and bone hyperplasia. 2. Women may also experience leg deformities after childbirth. Long-term inactivity during pregnancy and postpartum can lead to muscle atrophy in the legs, which are gradually filled with fat, resulting in edema and leg deformities.

How to deal with foot deformities:

1. The most common clinical presentation of foot deformities is toe deformities, especially hallux valgus. Most of the causes are genetic, while a few cases are acquired. After the occurrence of hallux valgus, conservative treatment can be adopted, including traditional Chinese medicine techniques for correction, followed by long-term fixation with hallux valgus braces. 2. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment can be considered, such as minimally invasive surgery for bunion excision, hallux adductor muscle resection, or resection of hyperplastic bone and osteophytes. Postoperatively, hallux valgus braces are still required for long-term fixation.
