What is the role of Tropisetron Injection?
Tropisetron Injection has the effect of suppressing vomiting, and its main active ingredient is Tropisetron. Tropisetron belongs to the 5-HT3 receptor antagonist and is used to treat vomiting caused by chemotherapy and surgery. Vomiting caused by chemotherapy or surgery is mainly due to the stimulation of relevant factors on the intestinal mucosa, releasing 5-HT, which binds to corresponding receptors, leading to nausea and vomiting.
For vomiting caused by chemotherapy, Tropisetron should be administered as a rapid intravenous drip before the first day of chemotherapy or administered slowly as an intravenous bolus. From the 2nd to 6th day, oral administration can be used instead.
Patients with a history of hypertension should be cautious when using this medication. As this medication may cause an increase in blood pressure. Common adverse reactions of Tropisetron may include dizziness or fatigue, so avoid driving and operating machinery after taking the medication.
