How Long Does It Take to Get the Results of a 4D Scan?
4D ultrasound is a commonly used medical examination instrument. Its advantage lies in richer imaging information, which is more conducive to diagnosis and discrimination. 4D ultrasound is often used for prenatal examination, through which doctors can promptly understand the development of the fetus. There are many advantages of 4D ultrasound. Besides its high accuracy, the time taken to get the results of 4D ultrasound is relatively short, and the results can generally be obtained on the same day.
The results of 4D ultrasound come out quickly. Expectant mothers can get the results immediately on the same day after the examination. However, sometimes due to the posture of the fetus, some positions may be unclear, so repeated examinations are needed. But as long as a few minutes after the examination, the results will be available, saving the waiting time.
1. 4D ultrasound can be performed at any gestational age. However, it should be noted that there is controversy about performing 4D ultrasound during early pregnancy (before 12 weeks of gestation). For safety reasons, it is recommended to perform 4D ultrasound on the fetus after 20 weeks of gestation.
2. After 20 weeks of gestation, the fetus's limbs and major organs have all developed. However, between 22 and 26 weeks of gestation, the fetal organs are more developed, and there is a larger amount of amniotic fluid, which is suitable for fetal anomaly screening.
1. Abdominal 4D ultrasound examination is not limited by time, but except for patients in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, the bladder needs to be filled. Given that patients need to endure the discomfort of holding urine, and abdominal examination is not as clear as vaginal examination, it is still recommended to adopt transvaginal 4D ultrasound examination.
2. Transvaginal 4D ultrasound examination requires the bladder to be emptied without holding urine, and can be examined at any time. However, attention should be paid to disinfection and prevention of infection during menstruation.
3. Transrectal 4D ultrasound examination requires the bladder and rectum to be emptied.
