Fecal occult blood test negative indicates that there is no bleeding problem inside the gastrointestinal tract, which is a normal test result. From the perspective of clinical medicine, if the bleeding inside the digestive tract exceeds 5 cm, it may lead to a positive result in the fecal occult blood test. However, a positive fecal occult blood test can only indicate the presence of gastrointestinal bleeding, so if you want to further determine the location of the bleeding, other tests are needed. The following tests should be performed if fecal occult blood occurs:
1. Laboratory tests. Laboratory tests, such as microscopic examination, refer to healthcare professionals observing the color, amount of bleeding, mucus, parasites, etc. of the feces under a microscope. Through microscopic examination, they can find the cause of intestinal diseases in the human body, determine the composition of bacteria in the feces, and check whether there is parasite infection in the intestine.
2. Occult blood test. If no red blood cells are seen under the microscope, an occult blood test should be performed. The occult blood test can be used to determine the blood loss status of the human body by checking the number of hemoglobin and red blood cells in the blood. In addition, coagulation function tests should also be performed.
3. Special tests. Special tests refer to various colonoscopy examinations, which are of great diagnostic significance for digestive tract diseases. Colonoscopy includes sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, fiberoptic colonoscopy, etc. Through these colonoscopy examinations, we can directly observe the conditions inside the human digestive tract, such as internal hemorrhoids, polyps, ulcers, and even tumors. Colonoscopy can also take a part of pathological tissue for pathological examination when lesions are found.
