What Should I Do If My Baby Only Rolls Over to One Side When Trying to Turn Over?
It is normal for babies to only roll over on one side. Parents can guide their babies on one side and intentionally train them to learn to roll over on both sides. Here are the methods for training rolling over:
(1) Training arm support strength: Hang a colorful balloon or a noisy toy 60cm above the bed. Let the baby lie on the bed with their arms supporting their body. The mother can shake the balloon or toy to encourage the baby to look up and try to extend the time as much as possible.
(2) Training coordination of body movements: Once the baby has some support strength, the mother can adjust the height of the balloon so that the baby can reach it with their hands and feet while lying on their back.
(3) Helping the baby turn their body naturally: Place the baby on their back and gently hold their legs. Put the right leg over the left leg and gently help the baby turn their body naturally to the prone position. With repeated practice, the baby will learn to roll over.
Make sure the bedding and sheets are smooth and flat, and there should be no plastic sheets or similar items around the baby to prevent suffocation. Do not place hard objects or small items on the baby's bed to avoid injury or ingestion during rolling over. Do not leave the crib unattended or place the baby on an adult's bed, as a baby who can roll over may easily roll off and fall.
