How to Reduce High Body Temperature?

Update Date: Source: Network

There are many ways to reduce high fever. Firstly, physical cooling is recommended, such as using cold compresses to put a cold towel on the head to cool down, or taking a warm bath, or soaking feet in hot water. In severe cases, alcohol can be used to wipe the body. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, a fever reducer should be taken promptly. In severe cases, seek medical attention immediately.

Methods:

1. Cold compress on the head: Soak a soft towel in cold water at 20°C to 30°C, squeeze it slightly to prevent dripping, fold it and place it on the forehead, and replace it every 3 to 5 minutes. This method is suitable for children with general fever and not particularly high body temperature.

2. Wipe with warm water or take a warm bath: Bathing can help dissipate heat. Adjust the water temperature to 27°C to 37°C, use a warm and damp towel to wipe the child's head, underarms, limbs, or take a warm bath. Wipe the skin more often to promote heat dissipation.

3. Soak feet in hot water: Use a foot basin or a small bucket, pour in 2/3 of the water, and adjust the water temperature to around 40°C, based on the baby's comfort level. While soaking, the mother can gently rub the baby's feet to dilate blood vessels and reduce discomfort caused by fever.

4. Rubbing with alcohol: This method is suitable for reducing high fever. Prepare 200 to 300 milliliters of 20% to 35% alcohol, and use it to wipe the limbs and back. Alcohol can dilate blood vessels and take away a lot of heat when evaporating, which can help reduce fever in infants and young children. Note that do not rub the baby's chest, abdomen, and feet to avoid adverse reactions.
