What Are the Functions of Sphagnum Bead Algae?
Chara palustris has the functions of astringent, invigorating qi, clearing heat, and improving eyesight. It is mainly used to treat rectal prolapse, diarrhea, or burns caused by water or fire. It also has a certain therapeutic effect on red and swollen eyes. It is a plant with high medicinal value, mainly distributed in Northeast China, Hubei, Shaanxi and other places. It belongs to the algal body of Chara palustris.
The plant body of Chara palustris is in the shape of small clumps, with a diameter of 0.5 millimeters, and is blue-green or olive-green, turning dark green to black in the later stage. It is coated with a gelatinous sheath. The interior consists of beaded nutritional cells, which are round, flattened, or square, olive-green, arranged in a single row, with a diameter of 2.5-4.5 micrometers. Heteromorphic cells are large and transparent, with thick walls and a diameter of 6-9 micrometers. The small clumps of this plant may be separated or composed of nutritional cells that form threads and are interconnected. The clumps are oblong and have various morphological variations.
