Will Cartilage Damage Cause Constant Pain?
1. Cartilage injury does not usually cause constant pain. The duration of pain cannot be generalized and is influenced by the severity of the injury.
2. If the cartilage injury is relatively mild, standardized conservative treatment such as immobilization and fixation given after the injury can usually lead to recovery within about 4-6 weeks, and the pain symptoms will disappear after recovery.
3. If the cartilage injury is more severe, the patient's physical activity may be limited, and surgical treatment such as minimally invasive surgery may be required. Recovery can usually be achieved around 2 months after surgery. If the patient's cartilage injury is deep and the injured area cannot be repaired, cartilage transplantation or chondrocyte culture and transplantation may be needed, and the recovery time will be significantly prolonged, possibly taking half a year to a year, or even longer.
4. Patients with cartilage injury should actively cooperate with their doctors' treatment. Ice therapy can be used for pain symptoms to reduce swelling and pain in the affected area. Painkillers can be taken under the guidance of a doctor if necessary. Proper bed rest, reduction of activities, and rehabilitation exercises should be followed to promote recovery.
