What Are the Causes and Hazards of Lymphadenopathy?
Lymphatic tissue is an important immunological tissue in the body. However, in the presence of diseases, lymphadenopathy, or enlarged lymph nodes, often occurs. Lymphadenopathy in the neck is particularly prominent, and in some cases, it may be caused by cancer. Many cancers can lead to lymphatic metastasis in the later stages. So, what are the causes and consequences of lymphadenopathy?
1. Infection
Common infections in real life can cause lymphadenopathy, which has a certain impact on the body. For instance, chronic infections can lead to enlarged lymph nodes that are soft and movable. However, acute infections can cause lymphadenopathy with obvious redness, swelling, pain, and even fever.
2. Breast Hyperplasia
Many chronic diseases can also have a certain impact on the body, and breast hyperplasia can also lead to lymphadenopathy. Breast hyperplasia is a common chronic disease that can affect the immune system and cause hardened proliferative issues. Female friends should be extra careful if they have breast hyperplasia and notice enlarged lymph nodes.
3. Lymphatic Inflammation
Lymphatic inflammation can be divided into chronic and acute types. Chronic inflammation can cause enlarged lymph nodes that are very soft, but the condition can be prolonged. Many patients may experience this for about a year, and as long as they do not deliberately touch the affected area, there will be no pain or swelling. However, acute inflammation can also cause lymphadenopathy with redness, obvious suppuration, or severe pain, which requires special attention.
4. Malignant Tumors
Malignant tumors are a source of great fear and anxiety. When malignant tumors occur in the body, they can affect health and lead to lymphadenopathy. Lymph nodes enlarged due to malignant tumors often feel very stiff, with an irregular surface that is attached to the skin. Touching them can cause significant pain, so this symptom should not be ignored.
5. Consequences of Lymphadenopathy
Lymph nodes themselves pose no danger to the body. However, inflammation or other issues can cause them to enlarge. In such cases, anti-inflammatory medication may be prescribed. Normally, lymph nodes do not enlarge unless there is damage or inflammation in the surrounding tissue, which is a protective response of the body.
