How to Treat Eye Astigmatism?
Methods for treating astigmatism mainly include wearing framed glasses, corneal contact lenses, and surgical correction. It is recommended that patients select appropriate treatment methods based on their own conditions and under the guidance of a doctor.
I. Non-pharmacological Methods
1. Wearing framed glasses: If the degree of astigmatism is low and does not affect vision, no special treatment is required. If the degree of astigmatism is high, affecting normal life and work, you can consider wearing framed glasses for correction;
2. Corneal contact lenses: Also known as contact lenses, they are a widely used correction method in clinical practice, suitable for patients with mild to moderate astigmatism. However, it is important to strictly follow the doctor's instructions to avoid causing eye infections or corneal damage;
3. Surgical correction: For older adults with stable myopia, laser surgery can also be used to improve astigmatism, such as excimer laser refractive keratectomy and excimer laser in situ keratomileusis.
II. Pharmacological Methods
Some people may experience symptoms of dry eye syndrome after developing astigmatism. In such cases, artificial tears or eye drops can be used under the guidance of a doctor to alleviate the symptoms. Commonly used drugs include sodium hyaluronate eye drops and polyvinyl alcohol eye drops. It is also important to maintain good eye hygiene in daily life, avoid rubbing the eyes with your hands, and reduce the time spent using electronic devices to prevent the condition from worsening.
