Implicit Strabismus

Implicit strabismus generally refers to a condition where, while both eyes are directed towards a target, one eye exhibits inferior convergence ability, resulting in an outward deviation of that eye. Based on its etiology, it can be classified into congenital implicit strabismus and acquired implicit strabismus.

Etiology

1. Congenital Implicit Strabismus: This may arise due to genetic factors or abnormal embryonic development. Patients may experience symptoms such as visual fatigue, headaches, accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

2. Acquired Implicit Strabismus: Typically caused by excessive eye strain or refractive errors, it leads to an outward deviation of one eye, affecting normal vision.

Treatment

For mild cases, adjustments to sitting posture and adequate rest can provide relief. Wearing frame glasses can also help improve symptoms. However, in severe cases, prompt medical examination and treatment are necessary to prevent further deterioration. Patients are advised to use their eyes reasonably, avoiding prolonged close-up exposure to electronic devices, which may exacerbate the condition. Additionally, maintaining a light diet rich in vitamin-containing foods like apples, bananas, spinach, etc., can supplement essential nutrients for good health.
