What Does (+-) Urobilinogen Mean?
Let's take a look together!
1. Urobilinogen- indicates that it is normal. An increase in urobilinogen in urine suggests urine concentration. If it continues to rise, it may indicate liver problems.
2. Urobilinogen- suggests a slight increase in urobilinogen in urine. Generally, it has no pathological significance and is considered normal, as it may indicate urine concentration, which is caused by too little water intake. Therefore, the presence of a plus-minus sign is observed.
3. When the concentration of urobilinogen further increases, and a clear plus sign or even multiple plus signs appear, it often indicates liver problems. At this point, we can combine liver function tests in the blood with B-ultrasound of the liver and gallbladder to determine whether there are concurrent liver and gallbladder diseases and the corresponding causes.
Therefore, if only a plus-minus sign appears for urobilinogen, you don't need to worry too much. It may be a normal manifestation and does not require further diagnosis and treatment. Only when two or more plus signs appear for urobilinogen does it indicate possible liver problems.
