What Should I Do If I Suspect Food Poisoning?
With the improvement of daily living standards, our pursuit of food has also undergone significant changes, leading to the emergence of various kinds of food. Consequently, food poisoning incidents are becoming increasingly frequent. Symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, or headache may occur after food poisoning, which can severely impact our daily lives and work. The safety of our daily diet is a matter of great concern. What should we do if we discover food poisoning? Here are some suggestions:
1. Vomiting
When food poisoning occurs, we need to vomit the food consumed. One way to achieve this is by inducing vomiting. Take 20 grams of salt, add 200 milliliters of boiling water, cool it down, and drink it all at once. If vomiting does not occur, you can repeat this process several times to induce vomiting quickly. Alternatively, you can use 100 grams of fresh ginger, crush it to extract the juice, and take it with 200 milliliters of warm water. If the food consumed is spoiled meat, you can take ten-drop medicine to induce vomiting quickly. Some patients may also use chopsticks, fingers, or goose feathers to stimulate the throat and trigger vomiting.
2. Laxatives
Apart from vomiting, we can also use laxatives to relieve food poisoning. This method is commonly used for food poisoning. Typically, 30 grams of rhubarb can be used for one dose. For elderly patients, 20 grams of yuanmingfen can be taken with boiling water to achieve laxative effects. Elderly patients with good physical condition can also use 15 grams of senna leaves, either decocted or taken with boiling water, to achieve the same purpose.
3. Detoxification
If you experience food poisoning due to eating spoiled fish, shrimp, crab, or other seafood, you can take 100 milliliters of vinegar mixed with 200 milliliters of water and drink it all at once. Additionally, 30 grams of perilla frutescens and 10 grams of licorice can be decocted and taken together. If you accidentally ingest spoiled beverage preservatives, the best first aid measure is to drink fresh milk or other protein-containing beverages.
