Treatment of Typhoid Fever

Typhoid fever generally refers to a disease caused by Salmonella typhi infection. Clinically, antibiotics, antipyretics, analgesics, and antiviral drugs are commonly used to treat this disease.

Antibiotics

1. Cefixime: A broad-spectrum antibacterial drug that effectively kills both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It is used to treat various diseases caused by sensitive bacteria, including respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.

2. Azithromycin: Belonging to the macrolide class of antibiotics, it exhibits strong antibacterial activity. Clinically, it is primarily used to treat pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, sinusitis, otitis media, acute and chronic bronchitis (acute exacerbations), pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae or Chlamydia pneumoniae, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by sensitive bacteria.

3. Levofloxacin: A quinolone antibacterial drug that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase activity, blocking bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial death. It is suitable for treating infectious diseases in the respiratory system, urinary and reproductive system, and abdominal cavity and biliary tract caused by sensitive bacteria.

Antipyretics and Analgesics

1. Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsules: A commonly used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in clinical practice. It inhibits prostaglandin synthase, reducing prostaglandin production, thereby exerting analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

2. Paracetamol Tablets: They inhibit the synthesis and release of prostaglandin E2 in the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center, causing peripheral vasodilation, increased sweating, and reduced heat production, achieving antipyretic effects.

Antiviral Drugs

If a patient exhibits fever symptoms with a body temperature exceeding 38.5°C, they can take Paracetamol Tablets as prescribed for fever reduction. If accompanied by diarrhea, Montmorillonite Powder can be administered to alleviate discomfort.

It is recommended that patients use the above medications under the guidance of a physician to avoid adverse reactions from self-medication. Daily life should include a light diet, fresh fruits and vegetables, sufficient sleep, regular exercise, and enhanced immune function.
