Can I exercise during my menstrual cycle?
Women can do moderate exercise during menstruation. However, it is important to avoid strenuous exercise. There are many types of exercise, not just running or playing sports. Walking, strolling, and jogging in daily life are all considered exercise. During menstruation, women can stroll and jog moderately, which generally does not have adverse effects.
Strenuous exercise is not suitable during menstruation. If intense exercise is performed, it may cause uterine contractions to become stronger, leading to menstrual blood flowing backwards. When menstrual blood enters the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tubes, it can easily increase the risk of pelvic diseases and endometriosis. Therefore, even during menstruation, women should choose gentle aerobic exercises.
If one feels physically unwell, exercise is not recommended. Some women may experience various discomforts or abdominal pain during menstruation, and their physical condition may not allow for strenuous exercise. If one wants to exercise during menstruation, it should be based on their own physical condition and should not be done blindly.
