"What Should a Popular Live Streamer Do After Being Bitten by a Cobra in a Sudden Attack?"
Recently, a popular livestreamer in Zhuhai, Guangdong, was suddenly attacked by a cobra while introducing the types and characteristics of snakes during a live broadcast, with the venom directly sprayed into her eyes, shocking viewers. In daily life, it is inevitable that we or our relatives and friends around us may encounter situations where we are attacked or bitten by snakes. So, what emergency measures should we take when attacked by a snake? How can we properly administer first aid for snakebites? Snakes are feared by many, yet in real life, especially in some rural areas, they can easily bite humans. After being bitten by a snake, many people inevitably panic. A bite from a non-venomous snake is not a major concern. However, if it is a venomous snake, it can be life-threatening. What should we do if bitten by a snake? Professor Chen Zuhui from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University said that it is generally difficult to determine from clinical symptoms which type of snake bit you or whether the snake is venomous. But if there is numbness, pain at the bite site, accompanied by muscle spasms, nausea, vomiting, or even severe symptoms like respiratory difficulty and limb swelling, it indicates a strong venom and immediate medical attention is required. Without antivenom treatment, it is difficult to cure snakebites, but taking correct rescue measures after being bitten can significantly reduce the further spread of venom into the body, gaining valuable time for subsequent medical treatment. Professor Chen Zuhui introduced the correct first aid steps for snakebites, which mainly include the following six aspects:
1. Call 120 Emergency Response Number
After being bitten by a snake, do not panic but calmly call 120 for emergency medical services.
2. Leave the Scene
After being bitten or attacked by a snake, it is likely that the snake will bite repeatedly, so leave the accident scene immediately. If you are able to kill the snake, avoid striking its head and bring the snake's body to the hospital.
3. Reduce Activity
After being bitten by a snake, avoid excessive activity and try to remain calm. Keep the bitten area below heart level to prevent the venom from spreading to the heart and causing life-threatening situations.
4. Dress the Wound
Wrap the bitten area with gauze or bandages, tying them proximal to the wound. Ensure the bandage is not too tight, allowing a finger to pass through to avoid tissue ischemia and necrosis.
5. Clean the Wound
If there are any residual venomous fangs, remove them as soon as possible. Squeeze the wound to expel venom, but do not suction with your mouth. Rinse the wound repeatedly with cool boiled water or soapy water.
6. Seek Medical Treatment
When the patient exhibits obvious signs of poisoning, promptly transport them to a hospital for detailed treatment by professional doctors.
