Why Do I Experience Morning Erections Every Day?
For men, the phenomenon of spontaneous erection of the penis without any external stimulation or internal conscious control between 4-7 am indicates that their sexual function has reached a vigorous level. This is a normal physiological phenomenon for men, and it is clinically known as morning erection. Healthy men will experience this situation, and morning erection is also an indicator of the strength of male sexual function.
Generally, men experience spontaneous erection of the penis between 4 and 7 am without conscious control of scenarios, actions, or thoughts. This is mostly a normal phenomenon. Sometimes, the morning erection phenomenon may disappear, and some men may mistakenly believe that they have erectile dysfunction. However, this is not the case. The exact mechanism of morning erection is not yet clear, and it can be influenced by various factors such as disease, medication, mental state, and lifestyle.
1. Age: After sexual maturity, the frequency of morning erections gradually increases with age, and the duration also gradually increases. After 30 years of age, morning erections gradually weaken or decline with age.
2. Disease: Many diseases can affect sexual function and morning erections, such as hypertension, diabetes, lumbar disc herniation, coronary heart disease, tuberculosis, spinal cord injury, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.
3. Medication: Anticancer drugs, antihypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, antacids, sedatives, and some traditional Chinese medicines can reduce the frequency of morning erections. On the other hand, drugs such as ginseng, astragalus, pilose antler, deer penis, sea dog kidney, and goji berries can increase the frequency of morning erections.
4. Mental factors: Severe mental trauma, excessive sorrow, depression, etc., can significantly reduce morning erections. These individuals may experience slow or inability to initiate during the daytime. Excessive fatigue and mental exhaustion can also affect morning erections.
5. Sleep: The adequacy and quality of sleep can affect the secretion of androgen to varying degrees, thereby influencing morning erections.
6. Urination: Excessive urine retention in the bladder can increase intravesical pressure and produce a stimulating effect, which can cause a subconscious reflex erection of the penis. This is often described as the penis being "hardened" by holding urine.
7. Unhealthy lifestyle habits: Excessive smoking, drinking, and irregular sleep patterns can also affect morning erections.
