Does reflux laryngopharyngitis fall under the category of gastritis?
Reflux laryngopharyngitis is not gastritis, but two different diseases. Reflux laryngopharyngitis is usually caused by gastric acid reflux, leading to inflammation of the mucosal membranes in the throat, while gastritis refers to the inflammatory reaction of the gastric mucosa caused by various reasons. They differ in terms of causes, clinical manifestations, test results, and treatment methods. Here are the key differences:
1. Causes: Reflux laryngopharyngitis is generally caused by gastric acid reflux into the throat, stimulating and damaging the mucosal membranes. Gastritis, on the other hand, is an inflammatory response that occurs after damage to the gastric mucosa due to various reasons.
2. Clinical Manifestations: Patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis mainly manifest as hoarseness, throat discomfort, and irritative dry cough. In contrast, patients with gastritis often experience upper abdominal pain, bloating, poor appetite, acid reflux, belching, as well as nausea and vomiting.
3. Test Results: During a physical examination, patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis may exhibit symptoms such as充血 in the throat mucosa, even ulceration and bleeding. For patients with gastritis, the throat mucosa may appear充血, swollen, and may even be accompanied by local hyperplasia.
4. Treatment Methods: Patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis are recommended to take medications such as Omeprazole Enteric-coated Capsules and Rabeprazole Sodium Enteric-coated Tablets under a doctor's supervision. Meanwhile, patients with gastritis are advised to follow a doctor's prescription and take Domperidone Tablets, Bismuth Potassium Citrate Granules, and Aluminum Hydroxide Magnesium Carbonate Chewable Tablets.
In addition to the above, patients with reflux laryngopharyngitis may require anti-reflux surgery, while patients with gastritis are generally recommended to take medications such as Omeprazole Enteric-coated Capsules and Bismuth Potassium Citrate Granules.
