What Are the Precautions After Dental Implant Surgery?
For two weeks after dental implantation, patients should opt for a liquid or semi-liquid diet and avoid eating hard foods. Daily attention should be paid to oral hygiene. Tooth brushing can only be done on the second day after surgery, using a soft toothbrush. After meals, medical mouthwash can be used for gargling. In the initial stages, there may be pain and swelling, requiring the use of antibiotics and painkillers. Regular follow-up visits are necessary after surgery.
1. Check the teeth weekly after implantation to ensure they fit properly. If there is a sensation of friction or early contact during biting, it is necessary to visit a dentist for grinding and correction.
2. Seven days after the implantation surgery, the sutures at the wound site need to be removed. Take care to protect the surgical area and use mouthwash for gargling 3 to 4 times a day, each time for 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Regular follow-up visits are required after surgery, and a second-phase restoration appointment should be scheduled after 3-6 months. There may be swelling in the surgical area within 3-7 days after surgery. During the first 1-2 weeks, patients should eat a liquid or semi-liquid diet to avoid exerting force on the implant site, which may affect the results of the implantation.
4. Smoking should be reduced or preferably stopped after artificial dental implantation, as smoking increases the risk of inflammation in the tissues surrounding the implant.
5. Choose a toothbrush with soft, smooth, and rounded bristles. Before use, soak the toothbrush in hot water to soften it, then dip it in toothpaste and salt for cleaning. This can not only clean oral dirt but also strengthen the care and maintenance of the implanted teeth, reducing irritation and damage to them.
