How to Treat the Black Dots Inside a Corn?
The darkest dot at the center of a corn is its root. Only when this dark dot inside the corn disappears can it be considered fully removed. Corns mostly occur due to prolonged pressure or friction on the foot skin, leading to the formation of a hard, conical keratin proliferation. They can be removed through topical medications, physical therapy, or surgery, as detailed below:
1. Topical Medications: Patients with corns may experience hard, keratinized skin that is light yellow or dark yellow in color, shaped like a cone, with the tip embedded in the damaged skin. Sometimes, touching it may cause pain. For treatment, topical medications specifically for corns can be used, such as Salicylic Acid and Phenol Plaster, Salicylic Acid Ointment, or other similar drugs.
2. Physical Therapy: This mainly includes cryotherapy or laser treatment, which can cause necrosis and shedding of the damaged tissue, achieving the removal effect.
3. Surgical Method: If the corn is deep and the problem is severe, it can be surgically excised. After surgery, it is important to care for the damaged skin to prevent infection and to choose comfortable, breathable shoes.
