Why Do the Blood Vessels in My Hand Become Bulging?

Update Date: Source: Network

Bulging hand veins may be a normal physiological phenomenon. When the hand is exerting force, clear bulging veins can be seen. It may also be caused by varicose veins. Blood vessels mainly play a role in transporting nutrients. There are also many cellular tissues in the blood vessels, which have the functions of hematopoiesis and coagulation.

1. Varicose veins (commonly known as "floating leg veins") are the most common disease of the venous system. The main reason for their formation is maintaining the same posture for a long time with little change, resulting in blood accumulation in the lower limbs. Over time, this can damage venous valves and lead to excessively high venous pressure, causing varicose veins. 2. Varicose veins mostly occur in the lower limbs. The skin of the legs may show red or blue, twisted vessels resembling spider webs or earthworms, or hard nodules resembling tree tumors. Abnormal enlargement, swelling, and varicose veins occur in the veins. According to statistics, approximately 25-40% of women and 20% of men suffer from varicose veins each year. Occupations that require long hours of standing, such as teachers, surgeons, nurses, hairstylists, salesladies, chefs, and restaurant waiters, are considered high-risk groups. Additionally, varicose veins are associated with genetics, oral contraceptives, and pregnancy.

Varicose veins are irreversible because the human body lacks a self-repair mechanism for valves. However, we can still prevent the progression and alleviate the symptoms of varicose veins through conservative treatment methods such as wearing compression stockings, exercising, dietary changes, and lifestyle adjustments. Gentle exercises like walking, swimming, and cycling can improve circulation and reduce the rate of new varicose vein formation. In terms of diet, it is recommended to consume a high-fiber, low-fat diet and increase the intake of vitamins C and E. In daily life, controlling weight, avoiding the use of contraceptives, avoiding wearing tight clothing and high heels, avoiding crossing legs, and avoiding sitting or standing for extended periods are advisable. Elevating the legs for a period before bedtime and sleeping on the left side can help reduce pressure on the pelvic venous system. Smoking can elevate blood pressure and damage arteries and veins, so patients with varicose veins should quit smoking immediately.
