"What are the Treatment Options for IGA Nephropathy?"
IGA Nephritis
IGA nephritis, commonly referred to as IgA nephropathy, is an immune complex glomerular disease primarily characterized by the deposition of IgA or IgA-containing immune complexes. Patients often present with symptoms such as hematuria, proteinuria, edema, and hypertension. The clinical management of IgA nephropathy typically encompasses general treatment, pharmacological intervention, and surgical options.
1. General Treatment
Patients are advised to avoid fatigue, ensure adequate rest, refrain from staying up late, and maintain a positive mindset. Dietary recommendations include a low-salt, low-fat diet, with controlled water and sodium intake, aiming to reduce daily salt intake to approximately 6g. Additionally, high-purine foods like animal organs and seafood should be avoided.
2. Medication
Patients may receive glucocorticoid therapy under medical supervision, such as Prednisone Tablets or Dexamethasone Tablets. For more severe cases, a combination of immunosuppressants like Cyclophosphamide Tablets and Azathioprine Tablets may be prescribed. Antiplatelet agents like Aspirin Enteric-coated Tablets and Clopidogrel Bisulfate Tablets can also be administered to prevent thrombosis.
3. Surgical Treatment
In cases of heavy proteinuria or severe edema, prompt medical attention is necessary, often leading to renal replacement therapies under medical guidance, including hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
Apart from the above, patients should undergo regular renal function tests and urine routine examinations. Monitoring blood pressure changes and engaging in moderate exercise tailored to individual conditions are also crucial in daily life.
