What are the advantages of using artemisinin in treating malaria?
1. Artemisinin has special pharmacological properties and has a very good therapeutic effect on malaria. During the process of artemisinin's anti-malarial effect, artemisinin disrupts the membrane-mitochondrial function of Plasmodium falciparum, leading to the complete collapse of the parasite structure.
2. Optical and electron microscope observations show that artemisinin can directly enter the membrane system structure of Plasmodium falciparum, effectively blocking the nutritional supply of the host erythrocyte plasma relied on by Plasmodium falciparum, and further interfering with the membrane-mitochondrial function of Plasmodium falciparum (rather than interfering with its folate metabolism), ultimately leading to the complete collapse of the Plasmodium falciparum parasite.
3. The application of artemisinin also greatly reduces the amount of isoleucine ingested by Plasmodium falciparum, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of protein in the Plasmodium falciparum parasite.
