After birth, a baby's organs are not fully developed, making it easy to choke on food and aspirate into the trachea or lungs, inducing severe coughing and even blocking the respiratory tract, threatening the baby's life safety.
When a baby chokes on the trachea and lungs, symptoms such as choking cough, wheezing, suffocation, and cyanosis of the face may appear. If the baby suffers from insufficient blood supply, it is necessary to go to the hospital as soon as possible to remove the foreign body and reduce the harm to the baby.
What are the manifestations of a baby choking on the trachea and lungs?
1. If a baby chokes, there should be a history of choking on foreign bodies, such as severe coughing after eating nuts or other foods. If there is no sense of foreign bodies, some children may have repeated wheezing as the main manifestation, such as the sound of "zizizi" that can be heard at ordinary times.
2. If the object is relatively small and gets stuck in the bronchioles, there may be no symptoms. If there is a foreign body in the chest X-ray, the mediastinal swing can be seen when taking a chest X-ray, and the uneven translucency of the two lungs can be seen on the chest X-ray. In such cases, the foreign body can be removed through bronchoscopy.
3. If a baby chokes on the trachea and lungs while eating, there will be persistent choking cough and wheezing. In severe cases, cyanosis of the face and insufficient blood supply may occur. If this happens, the baby should be taken to have an X-ray examination as soon as possible, and the foreign body should be removed through bronchoscopy.
4. When a child is eating, do not talk or make loud noises. Let the child eat quietly. If there is a foreign body in the trachea, it should be treated in the hospital as soon as possible to prevent complications, which can be life-threatening in severe cases.
