How Can Mild Obstructive Ventilatory Dysfunction Be Treated?
Mild Obstructive Ventilatory Dysfunction
Mild obstructive ventilatory dysfunction refers to a ventilatory dysfunction caused by inadequate or premature closure of airways, commonly observed in obstructions of the bronchi and their various branches, weakened lung elastic function, and also in upper respiratory tract obstruction. Typically, improvement of symptoms can be achieved through general treatment, medication, physiotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment, and surgical intervention under medical guidance.
1. General Treatment
Patients are advised to quit smoking and avoid exposure to harmful gases and particles. Regular physical exercise should be undertaken to strengthen the body, improve respiratory muscle strength and endurance. Adequate sleep and a balanced diet are also essential. These measures can alleviate symptoms, improve lung function, and delay disease progression.
2. Medication
Prescribed medications such as Compound Methoxyphenamine Capsules, Compound Guaifenesin Potassium Sulfonate Oral Solution, and Ambroxol Hydrochloride Oral Solution can be taken. When necessary, nebulized inhalation therapy, using nebulized inhalation solutions like Salbutamol Sulfate, can be administered to alleviate dyspnea caused by ventilatory dysfunction.
3. Physiotherapy
Respiratory rehabilitation training and oxygen therapy can be conducted under medical supervision. Respiratory rehabilitation training enhances lung capacity and respiratory efficiency by exercising respiratory muscles, thereby improving lung function. Oxygen therapy provides sufficient oxygen to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.
4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment
TCM formulas like Tongxuan Lifei Pill, Juhong Pill, and Baihe Gujin Pill can be prescribed to harmonize qi and blood, resolve phlegm and dampness, and clear airways. Acupuncture can also be performed to stimulate acupoints, regulate qi and blood, and improve lung function.
5. Surgical Treatment
For patients with severe symptoms that are unresponsive to medication, surgical options such as lung volume reduction surgery or bronchial thermoplasty may be considered. It is not recommended for patients to self-treat, as this may lead to inappropriate treatment methods. During the treatment process, patients should maintain a positive mindset, actively cooperate with regular follow-ups, and closely monitor disease progression.
