What Should I Do If My Ear Has a Broken Skin That Forms a Scab?
If there is a phenomenon of skin breakage and scabbing inside the ear, it is necessary to keep it dry, use ear drops appropriately, and avoid picking off the scabs with hands. If blood is found to seep out, bleeding should be stopped in time, and anti-inflammatory drugs may be needed when necessary. The ear is very fragile, so it must be well protected at ordinary times. Sharp objects or hands should not be used to pick at it. Once there is bleeding and scabbing, timely treatment is required.
1. Keep it dry. If there is only skin breakage without any exudate inside the ear, no treatment is needed. As long as water and dirt are kept out of the ear canal and infection is prevented, there will generally be no problem.
2. Ear drops. If the area of breakage is large and there is bleeding, local application of ofloxacin ear drops can be used for treatment when the bleeding volume is small.
3. Bleeding control. If the bleeding volume is large, it is necessary to clean up the blood inside the ear canal in time, apply pressure hemostasis with gauze packing or use hemostatic gauze for treatment. Oral administration of anti-inflammatory drugs is also required.
4. Precautions. During the treatment period, coughing and spicy and stimulating foods are prohibited. Attention should also be paid to protection at ordinary times to avoid damage to the skin and mucosal tissues. If the ear is picked and broken, it can gradually heal itself even without treatment (provided that nothing is used to pick the ear again).
