What Are the Applications of Lasers?
Laser has many applications, commonly seen in fiber optic communication, laser weapons, laser discs, laser pointers, laser vision correction, laser beauty, laser scanning, laser mosquito killers, and more. It is mainly used in medicine, military, and communication fields.
The application of lasers in medicine is mainly divided into three categories: laser life science research, laser diagnosis, and laser treatment. Among them, laser treatment is further divided into laser surgical treatment, non-surgical treatment with weak laser biological stimulation, and photodynamic therapy with lasers.
In the military, laser weapons are directional energy weapons that use directionally emitted laser beams to directly destroy targets or render them ineffective. Depending on their operational uses, laser weapons can be divided into two major categories: tactical laser weapons and strategic laser weapons.
Laser communication is a communication method that transmits lasers in atmospheric space. The transmission equipment for laser atmospheric communication mainly consists of lasers (light sources), optical modulators, optical transmitting antennas (lenses), etc.; the receiving equipment mainly consists of optical receiving antennas, photodetectors, and other components.
In addition, laser irradiation of seeds, laser computers, laser sensors, laser image transmission technology, laser telemetry technology, laser isotope separation, holography, and laser thermal nuclear fusion research are all fruitful results of lasers.
