How Can Prominent Ears Be Corrected?
If prominent ears are not very severe or the individual is relatively young, no special treatment is required, and they can be corrected by wearing an ear corrector. If the deformity of the auricle is more severe, then plastic surgery can be performed to correct it, using the chondroplasty method to remove a small amount of cartilage to achieve the effect of correcting prominent ears.
1. Wearing Ear Correctors
If the patient is young or the condition of prominent ears is not very severe, then wearing ear correctors can be used to improve the situation. This type of corrector needs to be worn for about six months to a year, and it can restore the shape of the auricle to a normal state. Moreover, the entire treatment process does not cause any pain to the patient and is relatively easy to accept. However, if the auricular deformity is severe, using ear correctors will not be effective.
2. Chondroplasty
Prominent ears can be corrected through chondroplasty. This surgery requires making an incision behind the ear, removing local cartilage and skin, and then suturing. This correction method is very effective, but it will usually leave scars of varying sizes after surgery. Therefore, it is recommended that patients eat more foods rich in vitamins after surgery to fade the scars.
