What is the Price of a Box of Acarbose Tablets?
High blood sugar poses significant harm to the human body, therefore, it is crucial for patients to promptly lower their blood sugar levels. Acarbose tablets can play a role in reducing blood sugar. It is important to pay attention to the dosage of this medication and avoid overdosing. After taking this medication, some patients may experience adverse effects such as gastrointestinal distension, bowel sounds, occasional diarrhea and abdominal distension, and rarely abdominal pain.
How much does a box of Acarbose tablets cost? Let's take a look below.
The price of Acarbose tablets ranges from 42.90 to 141.58 yuan per box. Acarbose tablets are a western medicine used as an antidiabetic agent. When used in conjunction with dietary control, it is effective in treating diabetes or reducing postprandial blood sugar levels in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance.
1. The tablets should be taken whole immediately before meals or chewed with the first few bites of food. The dosage varies from person to person.
2. The usual recommended starting dosage is 50mg three times daily, which may be gradually increased to 0.1g three times daily. In some cases, the dosage may be increased to 0.2g three times daily, or as prescribed by a doctor.
3. If the patient does not see significant improvement after 4-8 weeks of treatment, the dosage may be increased. However, if the patient experiences discomfort even with strict dietary control for diabetes, the dosage should not be further increased, and may need to be appropriately reduced. The average dosage is 0.1g three times daily.
1. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal distension and bowel sounds, with occasional diarrhea and abdominal distension, and rarely abdominal pain.
2. If dietary control is not adhered to, gastrointestinal side effects may be exacerbated. If severe discomfort persists even after dietary control, consult a doctor for temporary or permanent reduction of dosage.
3. In very rare cases, skin allergies such as erythema, rash, and urticaria may occur.
4. Edema, mild intestinal obstruction, or intestinal obstruction have been observed in very rare cases.
5. There have been reports of jaundice and/or hepatitis with liver damage in very rare cases. In Japan, there have been cases of fulminant hepatitis leading to death, but it is unclear whether these cases were related to Acarbose.
6. In patients receiving Acarbose treatment at 150 to 300mg daily, clinically significant abnormalities in liver function tests have been observed in individual patients (exceeding the normal upper limit three times, see Precautions section for details).
