Gentamicin is primarily used for anti-infection purposes, such as in cases of infection caused by Shigella and Escherichia coli. It is essential to take the medication under the guidance of a doctor, avoiding arbitrary increases in dosage, as this may lead to severe renal and ototoxicity. Additionally, pregnant women are strictly prohibited from using this medication to prevent any potential impact on fetal development.
Gentamicin belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics and is primarily used for anti-infection treatments clinically. This medication can cross the placental barrier and enter the fetal circulation, potentially harming the fetal auditory nerve. Therefore, it is strictly prohibited for pregnant women to use this medication.
