What Color of Urine Is Considered Normal?
Light yellow urine is considered normal urine and should not contain sediment. Any other colors such as yellowish, reddish, or the appearance of chyluria, all indicate abnormal urine, which may be related to internal heat, insufficient water intake, or inflammation. Common cases include urinary system inflammation, including urethritis, cystitis, and so on.
Normal fresh urine is yellow, without sediment, and relatively transparent or colorless. Under normal conditions, urine becomes white and transparent when the body consumes a large amount of water and produces a large volume of urine. Dark yellow urine is due to drinking too little water. If the urine color is abnormal, it is recommended to consider possible pathological changes in the urinary system.
1. Yellow: Yellow urine is commonly seen after drinking less water, exercising and sweating, urinary tract infection, nephritis, or consuming certain foods or medications. In addition to drinking more water, further urine routine tests are needed.
2. Red: Red urine is also commonly seen in cystitis, urethral or bladder injuries, and urinary tract tumors. Besides inquiring about the patient's history of trauma, it is necessary to understand if the patient has frequent or urgent urination. Urine routine tests, urinary system imaging tests, and even cystoscopy may be performed.
3. Chyluria: If the urine appears milky white after the patient consumes fatty foods, there is a high suspicion of chyluria, and a chyluria test should be performed.
