What Foods Should Be Avoided with Ear Drum Inflammation?
Otitis media, also known as ear inflammation, is a relatively common disease. There are many reasons for the inflammation of the eardrum, such as dirty water entering the ear canal, exposure to high-decibel sounds, or infection caused by scratching the ear canal. When otitis media occurs, patients should avoid eating greasy, spicy, raw and cold foods, as well as other triggering foods.
1. Greasy and Rich Foods: Patients with otitis media should be particularly careful about their diet. In addition to focusing on the intake of nutritious foods, they should also avoid excessive consumption of greasy and rich foods such as fatty meat, beef, and animal skin, as these foods are rich in fat and may be detrimental to the recovery of the disease.
2. Spicy Foods: Many foods are prohibited for otitis media patients in their daily diet, especially spicy foods. Foods with a slightly spicy taste should be avoided. Common spicy foods include onions, ginger, garlic, chili peppers, etc. Additionally, spices such as pepper powder and cumin also contain spicy components and should be avoided by otitis media patients.
3. Raw and Cold Foods: During the illness, there are many foods that should be avoided, including raw and cold foods. Common examples include frozen fruits, beverages, and ice cream. These frozen foods can damage the spleen and stomach, leading to impaired digestion and absorption, and can also significantly reduce the body's immunity, thereby worsening the condition.
4. Triggering Foods: After developing otitis media, patients should be particularly careful about their diet and avoid all triggering foods. Common examples include fish, shrimp, crab, male chickens, and beef. Additionally, these foods may contain allergens that can cause allergic reactions and worsen the symptoms of otitis media.
