How Many Weeks of Pregnancy Can Be Detected?
When a couple has sexual intercourse, the fertilized egg is formed and implanted to become an embryo. B-ultrasound can be used to detect early pregnancy approximately one week after a missed period. If a pregnancy sac is visible on the ultrasound, it indicates pregnancy. The main objectives of early pregnancy B-ultrasound are to confirm intrauterine pregnancy, rule out ectopic pregnancy and trophoblastic diseases, estimate gestational age, and exclude pelvic masses or uterine abnormalities. At around 35 days of amenorrhea, the pregnancy sac can be seen in the uterine cavity, and at 6 weeks of gestation, the embryo and primitive heart tube pulsations can be observed.
