What Are the Side Effects of Ribavirin Injection?
Common adverse reactions of ribavirin injection include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc. These symptoms generally disappear after discontinuation of the drug. Long-term use may cause a decrease in red blood cells, white blood cells, and hemoglobin. For patients with respiratory diseases, it may cause dyspnea, chest pain, etc. Therefore, it needs to be used under the guidance of a doctor.
1. Ribavirin injection is an antiviral drug suitable for viral pneumonia and bronchitis caused by respiratory syncytial virus. It should be noted that people with abnormal liver function and severe anemia should be cautious in using this drug. If it is used during lactation, breastfeeding must be suspended to prevent children from absorbing it through breast milk and harming their health.
2. Ribavirin, also known as Virazole or Ribavirin, is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug mainly used for the prevention and treatment of viral infections. Since ribavirin reacts in red blood cells, the main adverse reaction is hemolytic anemia, commonly accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, headache, chest pain, fever, and chills.
3. When using ribavirin, regular blood routine examinations, blood biochemistry, and especially hemoglobin concentration checks (including before starting, during the 2nd and 4th weeks of treatment) are required.
