Let's delve into its specific efficacy and applications.Efficacy and Functions of Bai Jin Wan
Traditional Uses: Clinically, Bai Jin Wan is used to treat symptoms such as excessive phlegm in cases of rabies-like convulsions, sudden loss of consciousness, and spitting of saliva or foam. However, its applications extend beyond these traditional uses.New Clinical Uses:
- Treatment of Hair Loss: Traditional Chinese medicine attributes hair loss to deficiencies in the liver and kidneys, imbalance of qi and blood, qi stagnation and blood stasis, or heat in the blood causing dryness. Bai Jin Wan has shown remarkable results in treating 72 cases of hair loss. The method involves oral administration of 6 grams of Bai Jin Wan twice daily (morning and evening) with warm water. A treatment cycle lasts 30 days, with continuous usage until new hair growth is observed. The outcomes revealed a clinical cure rate of 83.3% (60 cases with full hair regrowth, shiny black hair, and disappearance of symptoms), a marked effect in 8.3% (6 cases with over 80% hair regrowth, dark and shiny hair, and nearly symptom-free), effectiveness in 5.6% (4 cases with halted hair loss, partial regrowth, and reduced symptoms), and ineffectiveness in 2.9% (2 cases with no change in hair condition). Overall, the total effective rate was 97.2%. Another report cites successful treatment of 7 cases of seborrheic alopecia with Bai Jin Wan, administered at 4-5 grams per dose, 1-2 times daily, resulting in significant improvement within a month and complete cure within two months.
- Treatment of Hyperlipidemia: Bai Jin Wan has also demonstrated outstanding results in treating 178 cases of hyperlipidemia. Patients were administered 6 grams of Bai Jin Wan twice daily with warm water. Each treatment cycle lasted 15 days, with continuous usage until symptoms resolved. Of the 178 cases, 145 (81.5%) achieved cure, 28 (15.7%) showed effectiveness, and 5 (2.8%) were ineffective, yielding a total effective rate of 97.2%. The shortest duration of treatment was 2 cycles, while the longest was 4 cycles. Generally, noticeable improvement was observed after 1 cycle. Additionally, a research collaboration in Jiangxi Province reported successful treatment of 344 hyperlipidemia patients with Bai Jin Wan, administered at 6 grams three times daily after meals with warm water. After 2-3 cycles of 20 days each, significant reductions in cholesterol (82.8%), triglycerides (71.2%), and β-lipoprotein (64.2%) were observed.
