Sometimes, foreign drug standards may be higher than domestic ones, resulting in higher purity and absorption rates. Of course, this is not absolute, as the quality of domestic drugs has improved significantly, and some domestic pharmaceutical companies' products are comparable to imported ones.

The reasons for price differences in drugs, besides the difference between domestic and imported drugs, also include variations among domestically produced drugs. These differences can be attributed to factors such as the raw materials, excipients, dosage forms, and preparation processes used in the drugs. Even if the pharmacological components of drugs are the same, it does not necessarily mean that other components are identical. The use of different excipients can lead to significant differences in production costs. High-purity raw materials, for instance, tend to have higher costs. Excipients are added to some drugs, such as capsules, granules, and tablets, to aid in solubility, adhesion, disintegration, and flavor enhancement. The price of drugs with the same active ingredients can vary depending on their dosage forms. For drugs that are affected by stomach acid, excipients may be added to enable dissolution in the intestines. Additionally, some drugs may include taste modifiers like hawthorn essence to improve palatability. These technological factors can affect the price of drugs. Therefore, when comparing pharmacological effects, consumers should focus on the main ingredients, as two drugs with the same main ingredients will have the same pharmacological effects.

Finally, the price of drugs is determined by various factors such as research and development costs and production expenses. On the other hand, the safety of drugs depends on their adverse reactions (or toxicity) and therapeutic effects. These are two unrelated issues. Therefore, a higher-priced drug does not necessarily mean it is safer or more effective. Similarly, a lower drug price does not indicate lower safety or efficacy.
