What Are the Red Pinpoint Spots on My Feet?
Small red blood spots on the feet may be a symptom of allergic purpura, which appears as bright red or dark red bruises, and some bruises may merge into ecchymoses. The main causes of allergic purpura may be allergies, infections, and immune system disorders that lead to corresponding diseases. In terms of treatment, oral administration of rutin tablets, vitamin C capsules, and calcium gluconate can reduce capillary permeability and the occurrence of purpura. Additionally, oral administration of compound glycyrrhizic acid capsules may be prescribed. During the treatment period, patients should avoid spicy and stimulating foods such as raw onions, raw garlic, strong tea, coffee, chili peppers, and mustard, and should maintain bed rest and avoid strenuous exercise to prevent exacerbation of the condition. Patients should also avoid contact with beef, mutton, seafood, and other triggering foods. If red spots appear on the dorsum of the foot and do not fade after pressure without self-perception symptoms, it is considered as purpura. Purpura that does not protrude from the skin on the dorsum of the foot may be related to tight shoes and socks or extrusion, and generally does not require excessive treatment as it can recover spontaneously. However, if the rash is large, palpable, and accompanied by other symptoms such as joint discomfort, rash on both lower limbs, and fever, the possibility of allergic purpura is high. It is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and undergo tests such as blood routine, coagulation function, C-reactive protein, and urine routine. Allergic purpura sometimes involves the kidneys, so continuous monitoring of urine routine and observation of urine protein and occult blood are recommended. Additionally, antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine may be prescribed orally. Blood routine tests should also be performed to check for a decrease in platelet count, and coagulation series, liver, and kidney function tests may be needed to assess for changes or damage to other organs.
