Why Do I Experience Nasal Congestion Whenever I Turn on the Air Conditioner in Summer?
When air conditioning is used in summer, nasal congestion often occurs. This is not only related to personal physical conditions, but also closely associated with factors related to the air conditioning unit. For example, if the air conditioning unit is not cleaned regularly, allergic rhinitis may develop, leading to nasal congestion. Here are some possible reasons:
1. Why Does Nasal Congestion Occur When Air Conditioning is Used in Summer?
Some individuals are not allergic to cold air, but rather to the dust and dust mites brought in by the air conditioning unit. Long-term use and lack of cleaning can result in a buildup of tiny particles of dust and dust mites on the air filter. When the air conditioning blows, it stirs up the dust and mites, which can then circulate throughout the indoor space. Additionally, people often close doors and windows when the air conditioning is on, preventing the dust and mites from escaping outdoors. When the indoor dust and mite levels reach a certain point, allergic rhinitis can develop, leading to symptoms such as nasal congestion and runny nose. If a bacterial infection occurs, thick nasal discharge may also be present.
2. Scraping Treatment for Nasal Congestion
The first step in scraping treatment for nasal congestion is to locate the temple area and apply meridian oil. Using the thick edge and angled surface of a scraping board, apply firm and gradually increasing pressure to the temple area. When a distinct feeling of soreness, numbness, and distention is felt, maintain the pressure for 5-10 seconds before gently lifting the scraping board. Repeat this motion up and down for more than 10 times.
The second step involves applying the thick edge and angled side of the scraping board to the Yingxiang acupoint, pressing firmly but not moving the skin surface. This action helps to stimulate and massage the tissues beneath the skin through a continuous circular scraping motion without causing scraping marks.
The third step involves locating the Fengchi, Dazhui, and Dingchuan acupoints and applying an appropriate amount of meridian oil. Using a 45° angle, scrape from the Fengchi acupoint down to the Dazhui and Dingchuan acupoints. Apply the scraping board in a downward direction, with the contact surface as wide and long as possible. For non-planar areas, use the angled edge of the scraping board to scrape in a sequential manner until scraping marks appear on the skin.
