Eczema and Its Treatment

Eczema is a skin inflammatory reaction caused by complex internal and external factors. Chronic eczema is generally characterized by infiltration, hypertrophy, severe itching, and easy recurrence. The etiology of chronic eczema is intricate, involving interactions between multiple internal and external factors. Patients often possess an allergic constitution related to genetic factors, making it prevalent in specific populations.

Internal factors commonly include gastrointestinal dysfunction, mental stress, neurological dysfunction, endocrine disorders, internal infections or lesions, and intestinal parasites. External factors such as sunlight, wind, cold, heat, scratching, friction, and contact with soap, cosmetics, animal fur, plants, and chemicals can also trigger eczema.

Folk Remedies for Chronic Eczema

1. Coptis Chinensis and Beehive Treatment

【Ingredients】Coptis Chinensis, beehive, vaseline.

【Usage】Finely grind Coptis Chinensis. After grinding the beehive, add vaseline and melt over low heat, stirring to form a salve. Wash the affected area with 2% warm saline solution before applying the salve. Avoid using hot water as heat can exacerbate the condition. 【Effect】Disperses wind and eliminates dampness, treating eczema.

2. Aged Vinegar and Camphor Treatment

Soak 250ml of aged vinegar (preferably Zhenjiang vinegar) with 1 camphor tablet for 3 days. Rub the affected area with the vinegar three times daily until recovery.

3. Corn Silk Treatment

Burn an appropriate amount of corn silk until it turns to ash. After grinding, mix with sesame oil and apply externally to the affected area.

4. Cuttlefish Bone Powder Treatment

Calcine cuttlefish bone to obtain a fine powder. Wash and dry the affected area with a saline solution, then sprinkle the cuttlefish bone powder directly onto the area to form a thick layer. Cover with an oil paper and wrap with gauze, changing every two days. This method can effectively treat eczema over several applications.
